Here's the thing, I HATE commercials about jewelry and gift cards as stocking stuffers. Stocking stuffers are not 'stuffers' because they are small, they are 'stuffers' because they are inexpensive & small!
These things are NOT stocking stuffers.
Video Games
MP3 Players
IPhones
Any kind of jewelry
Gift cards equaling any more than $5
Kindles
Cameras
You get my point.
There is one exception to this rule - the Engagement Ring. The only reason the Engagment Ring is allowed in a stocking is if everyone follows the inexpensive rule the Engagement Ring in the stocking is a shocking surprise. If it is amongst $600 worth of stuff what is the big deal?
The whole concept of small expensive items in stockings always bothered me, but especially now - the economy is so bad & there is still pressure to not only buy big presents but to fill up stockings with expensive items as well.
This is my suggestion - if it doesnt come from the dollar store or if it isnt candy it is not a stocking stuffer. Oh - if you got it FREE (like the bath & body works coupon here on this blog or a mailed freebie like a DVD or book) I would personally add that in too.
Thank you for listening, I just had to get that off my chest....
