San Diego Restaurant Week ~ September 19th - 23rd

*Repost!* This is so awesome - many restaurants will still have reservations available - but make sure to call asap!

San Diego Restaurant Week is an AWESOME opportunity to check out some of San Diego's finest restaurants at a great discount!  We love to check out fancy schmancy restaurants during San Diego Restaurant week that we might not normally be able to fit into our budget.

You MUST make a reservation for this event - space is limited!  Check out the link and call your favorite restaurant.

HOT TIP!  You can buy discounted gift cards to MANY of the participating restaurants at Costco!  My husband and I very much enjoy Vigilucci's - it is worth every cent, but it is expensive for our budget - last year we went to Vigiluccis during Restaurant week - we purchased our gift cards at Costco for an automatic 20% off (actually 22% off because we have an executive membership) and then applied those gift cards to the awesome discounted 3 course meal.  It worked like a charm!  Please call and double check that you can use gift cards at whatever restaurant you choose - this was just our experience at one restaurant - I hope it will apply to others as well.

Thanks to my friend Kelli for reminding me that San Diego Restaurant Week is right around the corner.

Buy Spa Finder Gift Cards at Costco and SAVE 20% at the Salon!

I thought a few of you ladies might enjoy this hot tip! Check and see if your hair stylist, spa, nail salon, etc accepts Spa Finder gift cards. If you aren't married to your beauty provider see if you can find one that DOES accept Spa Finder gift cards (hundreds do!).

My hair stylist recently moved to San Francisco so I found myself searching....I had several people send recommendations. While checking websites I noticed that one in my price range also accepted 'Spa Finder' gift cards. I have noticed these gift cards at Costco - 'Yay!' this equals a 20% discount (22% if you have the executive membership)!

I highly suggest checking to see if any of your salons accept them! Check out http://www.spafinder.com/ for more information on how they work and then pick up your gift certificates at Costco before you go. With it being almost standard to color hair, manis & pedis, facials, waxing, etc on a regular basis it could save many San Diego ladies hundreds of dollars a year!

Carlsbad Restaurant Week ~ made better with this Vigilucci's & Costco scenario

Check out http://www.shopcarlsbadvillage.org/ and notice that there are several restaurants participating.  I am sure you could have an awesome time and save some money at any number - but this is what we have done in the past.... We LOVE Vigilucci's - so yummy, so expensive, so worth it!
You will see that they have a $30 per person menu during Carlsbad Restaurant Week which is an excellent price for Vigilucci's - you are not able to combine with any other offers - HOWEVER - if you are a Costco member you can often purchase a restaurant gift card that includes several restaurants (one being Vigilucci's) with a $100 value for $80 - not bad, purchase that with your Executive membership - bam - 2% back, buy it with your Costco AmEx - bam - another 2% back. I would suggest calling Costco before making a special trip as ONE time we tried to purchase and they were all out, but we have purchased this exact gift card several times each year as gifts and as a way to save on our own date nights.

We did this exact scenario last year - worked perfectly and it was amazing! Check it out for yourself!

Free Diaper Samples ~ Costco (do not need to be a member)

Costco is offering two free Huggies diapers in the size of your choice.  Fill out the short form & they will mail to you in about 4 weeks.  You do not have to be a costco member to take advantage!

Don't have a baby or one on the way? Sign up and surprise a friend with a couple free diapers.  No friends with rugrats? - donate them to your favorite cause - foster care, pregnancy resource center, disaster relief efforts - diapers are a great thing to donate - they are such an expensive essential!

We are hoping to adopt again very soon and we are starting to stockpile before she is even here!

Valentine's tip - feel free to forward to the man in your life ;)

we are getting close to Valentine's Day so I thought I should re-post

I just wanted to remind everyone that while every online store, florist, and grocery store will increase the price of roses the week of Valentine's Day ~ Costco will not.  I think there may be some people that think anything from Costco is not romantic - but they are still beautiful flowers & they can save quite a bit!

Also, if you would prefer a delivery (which Costco.com does offer, but not at quite as deep a discount) make sure to go through EBATES - if you have not signed up yet, you will get a $5 bonus plus whatever percentage the florist you choose is offering.

Make sure to forward this tip to your man ~ chances are he hasn't even thought about Valentine's Day yet!

On the form it asks if you are willing to do a survey afterwards and also if you would like further communications, you can always answer 'no' if you do not want email from Costco. I always take it one step further with freebies by mail, I use a 'spam' email just in case.
