Kidsville Playtown ~ 10% birthday party discount!

Mention San Diego Deals and Steals when you book your kiddo's birthday party and you will get 10% off!

Kidsville Playtown.....my kid's favorite hang out!

So by now you probably know that our family is in LOVE with Kidsville Playtown - located in the Plaza Camino Real Mall in Carlsbad.
From the first time we went to Kidsville Playtown my little boy would not let up about a Kidsville birthday party.  'Mommy PWEEEESE can I have a pirate party at Kidsville?' His little 'Pweese' still melts my heart and I just really wanted to make it happen for him.

We've got two kids and it seems like we are always throwing a birthday party! It is so special - but of course exhausting!  We've always gone to a park or had friends and family over to our backyard.  We've never done anything fancy, but it still adds up.  I honestly thought having a party anywhere else would be too expensive, until I stopped to think about it....food, favors, entertainment, park rental fee, balloons, plates, cups, napkins, party hats, candy for the pinata.....it adds up pretty quick!

More fun than he can handle!

So I decided to look into what my little guy really wanted - I was surprised to see you can have your party at Kidsville Playtown for as little $250 and it includes pretty much everything I would have had to get and they do EVERYTHING for you!  Our parties are never fancy but I know when it is all added up we spend more than that!

For $250 the birthday child and 10 friends get into Kidsville, a party host (ours was awesome!), crafts, decorations, table clothes, table ware, music, all in a private room - and unlimited free play before and after the party!  Even more is included! Check out the list!

Our very own Pirate Host interacted the whole time!

We decided to go big with the Kidsville Themed Party which is a little more but well worth it! Themed parties are $350 - they have all the is included in the first but EVERYTHING is themed to your specifications. Our host was dressed as a pirate and was very interactive with the kids and so helpful!  There were little pirate party outfits for all the kids to dress up too (my favorite part!), pirate crafts and decor, it also included pizza and juice boxes for the kids.  Each kiddo got to take home a balloon, their craft, and a special gift from the treasure chest.  Check out some of the themes you can have here!  They have lots of themes to choose from but you can always suggest a theme and they do their best to make it happen.  My little girl has already requested a 'Fancy Nancy' Party..............stay tuned!

Crafting away!
*my favorite part*....I didn't have to clean up! That alone has sold me!
There is also a 'Do It Yourself' Party that includes 8 admissions and a private room is only $125!

This was hands down the most fun birthday party my kids have ever had and it was the most stress free!  The only thing we had to do was send out an Evite and bring a cake!

Happy Birthday Pirate! How did we get to 4 so fast???
Oh! Did I mention - it was raining the day of his party? Often times we rent out a space at a local park for a small fee - we would have been rained out and had to change plans. The bad weather only made our party inside Kidsville even better! Our kids and our guests got to burn a lot of energy - free bonus!

MENTION SAN DIEGO DEALS AND STEALS WHEN RESERVING YOUR BIRTHDAY PARTY AND YOU WILL GET 10% OFF!

I HIGHLY suggest following Kidsville Playtown on Facebook for great deals! They often offer discounts on day admissions and parties - making it an even better deal!

Happy Birthday to San Diego Deals and Steals!

It is hard to believe that a year ago today our little blog went live.  The idea for this blog started as little more than a way for me to stay more accountable to our finances.  I assumed a couple friends might follow along, but never saw it quite as big as it has already become! I am really looking forward to seeing what this next year brings!

I want to thank every subscriber and reader for sticking with me even through my terrible grammar and over use of exclaimation points.

I hope San Diego Deals and Steals has helped everyone have a little more fun on a little less!  I feel like we are so blessed to live in this city and I hope to explore and share even more this year!

I would love for readers and subscribers to help me celebrate San Diego Deals and Steals birthday by donating something to a charity of their choice! If you have saved any money here I would just love for you to spread the love!  Now is a hard time for everyone - especially charities.

Just an idea I hope you will keep in mind!

Thanks for a fun first year - I hope you will stick with me through year two and please invite a friend!

Enjoy ~

Randomly awesome kids party tip ~ Pull String Pinatas & a color printer

So today our little girl celebrated her 4th birthday....and we used the same pinata we've used for 3 parties! It is kind of a joke with our family - our sad tired pinata - but here is the deal - pinatas are like $20 (at least right?) and then you gotta fill them too!

Last year our little girl wanted a Dora party & I just stumbled across someone selling a Dora pinata on craigslist for $8 (nice!) - she pointed out that it was a 'pull string' so you could hit it & candy could fall out or you could put strings on it that kids pull & then the pinata is still in tact.

Long story short - with a color printer that Dora pinata has also been a Cars pinata and today a Disney Princess pinata - and chances are it will be a Pirate or Diego pinata in 6 months.

Eventually I know my kids are gonna want to destroy one - but I am hoping to buy as many years as possible with this reusable idea & a party goer thought it was blog worthy - so here's my tip - get your kid a pull string pinata & reuse that thing until it falls apart on its own - get one that is flat on each side so you can just glue a picture of whatever party theme you got going on.

Birthday Clubs for Kids!

We've got a birthday coming up in our house and we have been getting LOTS of emails with free meals for our birthday girl. Make sure to check out the links, most require an email (you cannot just show up on your bday & get the deal)

California Pizza Kitchen offers a free kids meal, drink, and dessert!

Old Spaghetti Factory offers a free kids meal, drink, and dessert!

Islands offers everyone a free dessert

Benihana offers a free meal (adults too) on their birthday!

BJ's Pizza offers a free Pazooki (a little piece of heaven) during the week of their birthday

Red Robin offers a free meal when another meal is purchased.

* want extra credit? see if your church, school, or some other non-profit sells 'scrip' - this is a program where you can buy gift cards & a portion of the money is put into an account for that non-profit group - sometimes up to 25%! We buy scrip to pay for my MOPS 'mothers of preschoolers' group fees.  Sometimes it is a very small percentage - but it all adds up and you were going to spend the money anyway.

Do you know of some other awesome birthday deals? Email me at sandiegodealsandsteals@blogspot.com with your favorite!

Happy Birthday!

Geoffery's Birthday Club ~ Sign up your kiddos today!

Click here to learn more about & sign up for 'Geoffery's Birthday Club' at Toys R Us.  It is a free club, they will ask for your email and mailing address.  Our little girl got her first birthday card in the mail - from Geoffery today, she was so excited.

You will get a birthday card every year with a $3 gift card (no minimum purchase required!).  When they go in to redeem their gift card make sure to let the person at the front know - they will give them the royal treatment with a crown, balloon, and announcement over the loud speaker.

Last year we brought our kids with their gift card and their birthday money from Grandma & Grandpa - we are trying to teach them young about the power of coupons.

You should be plesantly surprised with the 'extra' swagbucks that have already entered your account and there will be MANY more available today than ever before - check it out!!

*Why I love swagbucks - the short list

1. No Spam! Seriously, I have been at this for nearly a year and I do not receive any spam!

2. I earn ‘swagbucks’ which can be turned in for gift cards and other prizes for doing what I would do anyway – searching the internet. I simply use Swagbucks instead of Google, I get comparable results as what I did with Google and occasionally I am rewarded with ‘swagbucks’

3. If you refer friends and they sign up, you EARN POINTS WHEN THEY EARN POINTS! I waited a while before I referred anyone (again, fearful of spam & I didn’t want to be that friend who got everyone spammed out of their mind), once I realized it was legitimate, I started referring people and have earned with those who signed up, AWESOME!!! YOU WILL EARN 1,000 points as they earn! (you will not earn their bonus sign up points & they take about 48 hours to post to your account) Do what I did, sign up for yourself (click the link here to check it out and sign up!) – once you see how it works refer friends and earn more, it is seriously that simple! PLEASE sign up under me! I would be so appreciative if you would! click the link at the top.

4. There are lots of cool things in the ‘swagstore’ but my favorite are the gift cards and e-gift cards! The Amazon, Target, and Starbucks gift cards seem to be the best deals in my opinion. Now you can also order PAYPAL cash and CHARITY CHOICE gift cards too!

TIPS FOR EARNING SWAGBUCKS

-turn on the 'facebook connect'
- there are lots of ways to earn, but the EASIEST is to install the tool bar and use it for all of your searches. There is also a facebook fan group that can help you earn with codes. DO NOT SHARE CODES ON YOUR BLOG, FACEBOOK, ETC - you could get kicked out. There is a widget you can install to help you find new codes. Reading their blog & looking at their advertisments (make swagbucks your homepage) will earn you points too. Honestly 99% of mine come just from searching, I guess I could earn more the other way, but it adds up pretty fast just by searching! Enjoy!

With the 99 cents store I am not sure how Party City stays in business.

I'm guessing most of your kids are gonna have a birthday sometime in 2010 - both of mine are anyway.  Kid's birthday parties can get expensive fast, but not if you know where to look!

Here is my tip - check out some of the party favor stuff they have at the 99 cent store & put a bug in their ear early about how that would be the coolest birthday party theme.  My kids are 3, they are easy to manipulate and this works every time.

Here are some themes I see at our San Marcos 99 cent store all the time

Princess
Cars
Winnie the Pooh
Hanna Montana (barf)
Mickey Mouse and friends
sometimes Dora & Diego
High School Musical
and I know there are more

My daughter is having a Princess party, and we cleared out their Pirate bags & plates during halloween for my son's Pirate themed party.  We have also hosted Winnie the Pooh, Dora, and Car's parties for a very low price thanks to the 99 cents store.

Some of these items are literally the same items you can get at Party City for 3 or 4 times the price!

They also have helium balloons with various themes for 99 cents too.

If you are brave enough to venture into the food section there are usually brand name cupcake mixes for 99 cents too - I always assume stuff will be expired and I honestly have never found something even close to expired.  I'm not gonna lie, I can be a snob when it comes to 99 cents store food, but if it is a trusted brand and not expired or broken - why not?!

They do have plates, napkins, plastic cutlery & more - but I think the Dollar Tree actually has a better selection for these items.

Happy Birthday sometime this year!
