San Diego Deals & Steals Calendar

Make sure to check out our calendar (right side margin).  I will add events as I find them.  There will be tons of things to do throughout San Diego County so check back often!

This summer it is really filling up!  I post things in the calendar as soon as possible, and then mention them on the blog in an entry about two or three days before the event.  If you like to plan ahead - make sure to check it out!  I find new things while out and about often so it has new stuff added almost daily - there is seriously NO REASON to spend $$ this summer entertaining yourself , your kiddos, or out of town guests! Free Re-usable bag at Target for Earth Day!

My first rule - never purchase a reusable bag - NEVER - because if you wait long enough you will have a collection much bigger than you could ever use even at your biggest Costco trip - trust me - anyone need a reusable bag? come on over, I've got a few to spare.... I have two Target bags already, also several that came through the mail as promos for products and for some reason we always end up with a couple each time we go to a street fair / festival - my point - just let them add up - don't buy them in the impulse section near the register!

And to prove my point - Target (I LOVE TARGET) is giving away a free reusable bag in honor of Earth Day that is cleverly made out of plastic bottles.  They will give away 1.5 million bags with purchase starting the first day of Earth week - APRIL 18th.

Pick Up Stix is one of our family's favorite places to get a quick, casual, fairly healthy dinner or lunch.  We ALWAYS go with a coupon, always.  They are avaiable on their website and it always surprises me to see people in there without a coupon - they are SO easy to get!

Our favorite coupon is the 'buy one entree & drink and get a second entree free' - such a good deal!

TWO nearly free bottles of Purex Laundry Detergent at Walgreens

Update ~ according to reader Kimberly at least SOME Walgreens do not have them BOGO - so they end up at about $1.50 each  - which is still an awesome deal - but not quite as good as it apparently is in some other areas =( thought I should update just to help people from being disappointed....

Here is another example of why it is a very good idea to clip coupons! If you cut out the P/G buy one get one free coupon for Purex Laundry detergent  you are in LUCK!  Walgreens has Pured on sale BOGO and apparently you can use the coupon with this deal and get BOTH for free! I have not tried this yet - but I am trying to get out of my Target comfort zone and try out Walgreens & CVS deals too - I happen to have two of these BOGO coupons so I am hoping to score 4 free bottles - nice!  My apologies to the economy....

Chick Fil A San Marcos & Oceanside ~ buy a meal on Friday - save the reciept for a free meal!

Go to Chick Fil A San Marcos or Quarry Creek (Oceanside) any Friday in March - order a meal deal and make sure you save your reciept - you can bring it back any other day in March and get the same meal FREE! nice!  We don't do fast food very often (not that we don't love fast food, we are just trying to save money) - but when we do we try to get the most for our money.  Our kiddos love Chick Fil A so I am really excited about this promotion!

Mark your calendars! Sunday March 7th - Carnival of the Cultures - San Marcos

'Carnival of the Cultures' is a fun little free festival that we really enjoyed last year and look forward to taking the kids to again this year.

10am - 4pm San Marcos Civic Center - 1 Civic Center Drive

Free event, free parking, free crafts for the kids, LOTS of free multicultural entertainment - singers, dancers, karate demonstrations - etc

This is not a huge fair - perfect for smaller kids, we only spent about an hour last year but our kids talked about it for weeks afterwards.

I'll mention again as it gets closer, but I thought I should mention - as always, it will be on the 'San Diego Deals and Steals' calendar.

Family Friendly Valentine's Day Activities

* The New Children's Museum is free every second Sunday thanks to Target! Make sure to bring quarters for street parking. It does get busy, so it is best to get there early. click here for more details.

Lowes Build & Grow ~ Make & Take Jewelry box - Sat Feb 13th
