Little People Live Holiday Show! San Diego Zoo November 20th & 21st

Little People Live Holiday Show! is something my kiddos have been looking forward to all year!

Two shows will be held - 1pm & 4pm on two days - November 20th & 21st - it is held at the Wegelforth Bowl (there will be lots of signs inside the Zoo)

The event is free but you will still need to pay for admission into the San Diego Zoo.

The last time we checked out the Little People live show at the San Diego Zoo it was VERY popular! Lots of fun music for the kids and they even got a goodie bag with a free DVD!  I am not sure if there will be give aways this year - but the show itself is worth the trip if you've got little ones.

We'll see you there!

Balboa Park ~ Park Wide Halloween Family Day! 11am - 3pm

Park Wide Halloween Family Day in Balboa Park is going to be HUGE!  There is so much going on on Oct 30th - you will have lots of options - but this seems like a great choice!

If you want to check out the museums at Balboa Park with your family this is the day to go! Kids get in free with a paying adult and there will be lots of great added activities inside the museums and outside!

Remember also if you have not taken advantage of free admission to the SD Zoo - you are almost out of time!!  Remember that the admission to the Zoo is not based on how many adults come in - so if your family has 8 kids & only two parents the kids under 12 still ALL get in free!  Nice right?

Enjoy ~ Kate

City Pass ~ Southern California ~ Updated!!

Are you planning a 'StayCation' this year? Do you have out of town guests coming to see the sites of Southern California with you?

You might want to check out the City Pass - the SoCal City Pass is really awesome and it saves quite a bit of money if you were planning on doing all of these attractions anyway.

$269 for adults
$229 for kids

Kinda pricey at first glance but it includes a 3 day park hopper to Disneyland, a Universal Studios Ticket, Sea World ticket, and a ticket to our very own San Diego Zoo.

You have 14 days to use the tickets before they expire - it is a 30% discount off the prices at the gate - nice!

Update!! this is awesome!! Apparently this could be made even better! Reader & friend Suzanne says she upgraded her 3 day hopper (that was part of her So Cal City Pass) to an annual passport for Disneyland for FREE - what?! So basically - if you get the City Pass you get all the admission tickets AND can continue going back to Disney for free for the rest of the year (there will be black out days - but still - it doesn't cost any extra!)  Suzanne confirmed that she did this at Disneyland - has anyone had any experience with upgrading the other passes?? I know that a Zoo membership is not much more than a daily admission ticket - same with Sea World - I wonder.....I believe I may have stumbled upon my new favorite deal!!  Thanks Suzanne!

We used City Pass when we went to San Francisco a few years back - we LOVED it!

Fisher Price Play Weekend is July 31 - Augst 1

10am - 4pm

This is a GREAT activity especially for kids under 6 (maybe even a bit older in my opinion).  THere are TONS of toys to play with, crafts, they can drive little Power Wheels cars - it is awesome!

Our kids played for a couple hours last year!  Diego and Bigfoot will be in attendance - sweet!

Remember to check out previous posts on how to get discounted Wild Animal Park / Zoo tickets!  If you do NOT have WAP passes, you will have to purchase tickets - but try to get discounts!

It will be busy, it will be hot, it will be fun.

Enjoy ~

Summer Reading Program is awesome...I think I already mentioned that!

So I have to mention this again - summer reading program at the San Diego County Libraries is awesome!

You can sign up online here - then you simply log your hours that you read to your kids or (if they are older) that they read to themselves.  Add up hours & you get prizes - yay!  We do LOTS of reading in our house anyway - so it almost seemed silly to get prizes for doing what we do anyway - but we went into the San Marcos Library today to show off our reading certificates and each of my kids got a bag with the following...

Bath toy
FREE Child's Admission w/ Paid Adult Admission Legoland ticket
FREE Aunti Anne's Pretzel coupon - no purchase necessary!
FREE Child's admission to the Natural History Museum (must have a pd adult)
FREE kid's meal at Daphne's when an adult meal is purchased
FREE kid's meal at The Old Spaghetti Factory when an adult meal is purchased
FREE Personal Pizza when any other pizza is purchased at Round Table
FREE ticket to the San Diego Zoo (nowhere does it say the adult ticket needs to be purchased - remember there is a deal running at the Premium Outlets right now where you can get free zoo tix w/ the purchase of a gift card - side note - i would combo these deals)
FREE yogurt at 'FRO YO LOVE' - no purchase necessary!
FREE kids admission to the SD Air & Space Museum (not admitted without an adult)
bookmark

that is a LOT of fun freebies for something many of you are probably doing anyway!  So those of you dragging your feet - sign up now! And remember to check your local library for awesome summer entertainment!

Enjoy ~

Wild Animal Park & Zoo Year Passes are TAX DEDUCTIBLE

We have had Wild Animal Park & San Diego Zoo passes for years.  I was surprised to hear how many people didn't realize they are a tax right off.

If you have year passes you are able to write them off.  The SD Zoo & WAP are a non-profit organization and your membership is a charitable contribution.

Day passes are NOT deductible.  Year passes are not much more than going one time, so it is worth considering for 2010.

11. Bates Nut Farm
I am not sure if they are doing anything extra special for Halloween, but if for some reason you have never been to Bate’s Nut Farm during the Halloween season you are doing your family a terrible disservice (I don’t mean to be harsh, but it is true, no other pumpkin patch compares ((no offense to other pumpkin patches)). It is free to park and to play in the pumpkin patch (our city kids could have romped in the pumpkin patch all day). They have a great deal that for $8.50 you get to pick a good sized pumpkin, ride on the tractor hayride, and do the straw maze – not a bad deal at all) Also, check out the prices on their squashes – we always buy a couple butternut & spaghetti squashes – they are such a good deal!
