First off - I do not recommend Disneyland during the summer - it's hot, the lines are long - it just isn't the most enjoyable or most cost effective time to go in my opinion.

That being said...I know a bunch of you are gonna go anyway - so here is the good news - there is a Southern California 3 day summer pass you can purchase for $108! That is only $36 each day!

Totally worth checking out if you were planning a trip that way this summer! Offer only good thru August 29th.

Another reason this is a deal worth considering - Disneyland is raising their admission prices again - boooo!

Escondido Promenade Summer Sidewalk Sale ~ 7-31

The Escondido Promenade will have its annual Summer Sidewalk Sale!  There are TONS of coupons in the Union Tribune to make this sale even better - but the sales will be great even without the coupons!

The first 200 people to visit the prize booth located near Cost Plus World Market from noon - 2pm will receive a FREE back to school gift (while supplies last). The ad makes no mention of what this freebie is, but if you are going to the event anyway make sure to get yours!

TGIF Jazz in the Parks ~ awesome free concert series in Carlsbad

TGIF Jazz in the Parks is a great tradition in Carlsbad!  It is packed - but so worth it! Pack a fun picnic dinner and enjoy great local music and beautiful Carlsbad weather!

San Diego Outdoor Movie Schedules ~ All Over! Free date night/family night!

I found the site I have been searching for! I am very excited to share (it really is the little things that make my day)

SD Movies in the Park is a great resource for some fun - FREE entertainment all over San Diego - LOTS of free movies listed in lots of different cities all over the county!

I will do my very best to include all of these in each weekend 'deals & steals' listing and I am working on getting them all into the calendar...but I thought I should pass on the site for those of you who would want to check it out.

Summer Airfare Surcharge - *sigh*

So one thing that really frustrates me about air travel is that a flight has a price of $X - but it inflates by about $100 once you add in all the different taxes & surcharges - ie baggage fees (remember there was a time when you could travel with two checked bags and one carry on & it was fine - now they charge for even ONE checked bag to come along - ugh!)

NOW they have the nerve to charge a $10 - $30 peek summer travel days surcharge - so frustrating - the rates of course are higher during that time, which is totally understandable - but then they tack on another $30 - boooo!

Well let the airlines here me when I say - that was the final nail in the coffin of our family's summer vacation plans (honestly we planned a 'stay cation' anyway - but if there was any doubt - it has been erased)

If you are planning a summer vacation you may want to know that Southwest and JetBlue have not (yet) jumped on the summer surcharge bandwagon - their rates tend to be less expensive anyway - so I would check them first!  Also Southwest & Jetblue do NOT charge for the 1st checked bag - between the summer surcharge & checked bag fees alone this could save your family A LOT!

Remember that going through Ebates.com to get to your website of choice will save you money too! Book directly through Southwest Airlines through ebates & you will get 3% back!  There are also links for Priceline, Travelocity and more! (Pick one that shows you there airline & make sure you get Southwest or Jetblue to avoid those surcharges!)

FREE Kid's Movie Festival ~ Regal Cinemas this summer!

Regal Cinemas has announced their Kids Free Movies for the summer! I don't know how many of you participated last year but it is awesome! They are 2nd run movies - all G or PG that are FREE on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings - all summer!

Tickets are FREE, but first come first serve, last year we usually showed up about 20 - 30 minutes before show time and had no problem getting in.

They do have discounted concession too - fairly reasonable by movie theater standards - but we always just walked right past.

Nice air conditioned totally free treat for the kiddos, even if they have the movie at home - it is a fun treat to see it on the big screen.
